Greetings, young adventurers and budding scientists! Welcome to the captivating world of Science Minded, where the realms of knowledge and curiosity collide to create a haven for young minds eager to explore the wonders of science and STEM.
In the idyllic landscape of Carmel Valley, nestled within the vibrant city of San Diego, families are enthusiastically embracing science enrichment and hands-on STEM programs for their school-aged children. This coveted residential area boasts a dynamic demographic makeup, including professionals from diverse fields such as biotechnology, healthcare, and academia. Home to an educated and forward-thinking population, Carmel Valley reflects a community that places a premium on both academic excellence and holistic growth. Over 42% of Carmel Valley residents hold an advanced degree, so it's no wonder that parents in Carmel Valley prioritize science enrichment as an integral part of their children's educational journey.
The 2018 National Survey of Science and Mathematics Education found that students in grades K–3 were taught science for an average of just 18 minutes a day, compared with 89 minutes for English language arts and 57 minutes for math. And yet, STEM-related jobs are expected to increase by nearly 800,000 by 2031. Even if your child does not end up pursuing a career in STEM, they will benefit from hands-on science instruction, as it nurtures critical thinking skills through practical application, encourages collaboration and communication among peers, and instills a lifelong love for exploration and discovery. It teaches them to rely more on evidence, encourages them to think independently, and reduces their dependence on authority.
